ABOUT US
With over 20 years experience, Gress Engineering, PC provides professional mining and civil engineering along with surveying and ecological services to clients across the two Virginias, Kentucky and Tennessee. Our knowledge encompasses both surface and underground mining operations activities; including acquisition, initial analysis, mine planning and the acquisition of the proper permits from all regulatory agencies concerned with mining and its environmental impacts. We are a company that understands water resources engineering challenges, such as stream channel delineation, mitigation and reconstruction and are experienced in addressing them.
George founded Gress in 1994 and is a graduate from the University of Kentucky (1987) with a BS degree in Mining Engineering. He worked directly for central Appalachian coal producers, in a variety of positions ranging from entry level to Chief Engineer, for several years prior to establishing Gress. Gress was created to provide a complete engineering office on a contractual basis for a group of coal mining companies in southwest Virginia which it successfully did for more than a dozen years. He, and Gress, have served the mining community in Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia for more than 20 years and continue to do so. George is registered as a professional engineer in three states; Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky. He is registered as a professional surveyor in West Virginia.
Paul has been with Gress since 2001. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1994 with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. His entire career has revolved around providing consulting services to central Appalachian communities and coal companies. Paul is registered as a professional engineer in four states; Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee.
